Fisherman's Blues by The Waterboys You can't get much more Irish than this. Recorded in the Gaeltacht in Spiddal, Co. Galway. This is the highlight of Mike Scott's work. If you like it, try other Waterboys' CDs, especially the followup to Fishermans' Blues, "Room to Roam". This was also primarily done in Spiddal. |

Sean-Nos Nua by Sinead O'Conner I'm not a big Sinead fan, but this is very nice work. Great musicians on here as well including Steve Wickham of The Waterboys. Check out his new album, "Geronimo", if you like some great Irish fiddle. He's one of the best! |
Alan Lomax: World Library Of Folk & Primitive Music, Volume 2, Ireland This is one of my favorites of traditional Irish music. There is a good range from fiddle to Nos Nua. Made in recording sessions by Alan Lomaz and Seamus Ennis in 1951, this was one of the first comprehensive surveys of the folk music of Ireland. Lomax and Ennis went from village to town in western Ireland, recording professional and amateur singers and musicians in their homes and community places. Don't look for a Volume 1, this is part of a series and Volume 1 is not Irish. However the other volumes in the series are good as well. |

The Pogues Who needs teeth and good looks when you can turn out music like this. Loud and rowdy Irish music at it's best. This is who all the others want to be! |
The Tossers Carrying on the Pogues' tradition in the USA. Good, rowdy, music with a message. |
